Burgas will receive full support for transport connectivity for Eurovision. This was stated by the Minister of Transport and Communications Georgi Peev during his visit to Burgas. His visit was related to the measures for the transport connectivity of the city and joint activities in connection with the upcoming edition of the contest.
"I am extremely pleased with my meeting with Mayor Dimitar Nikolov. The most important thing we talked about was transport connectivity in connection with Eurovision. We talked about the ways in which transport should be organized, connections with Istanbul and Sofia, including trains and planes. Burgas will receive the full support of the Ministry of Transport and full cooperation from our side. I believe that we will do well," added Minister Peev.
Mayor Dimitar Nikolov indicated that work is underway on the possibility of the area of the former Magazia 7, which is located in close proximity to the Public Access Zone, being used for the construction of Eurovillage.
"We talked about the requirements that the terrain must meet, and the minister committed to having the space cleaned and prepared very soon so that EBU representatives can examine it and approve the location for the construction of Eurovillage. We have achieved full coordination on the topic with the construction and access from the side of the Railway Station, South Bus Station, Burgas Port in the direction of the Public Access Zone," the mayor added.
According to him, the location is the most suitable because it is located close to the city center, it is easy to communicate, it is close to the train station, the bus station, the Sea Garden and it will not hinder the movement of public transport in the city, but quite the opposite.
"The teams are currently developing the vision and when they are ready with the final version, we will present it. Regarding flights to and from Burgas Airport, we rely on the support of the state, and the minister categorically stated that talks will be held with all air carriers, as well as the national operator, for additional flights that will facilitate accessibility to Burgas," added Dimitar Nikolov.
