Go to Burgas (“the App”) is a city guide application for Burgas, Bulgaria, published by the Municipality of Burgas. We are committed to protecting your privacy. This policy explains what data we collect, how we use it, and your rights.
Data We Collect
Information you provide
- Display name (optional) — entered during onboarding to personalize greetings.
- Interest preferences — selected topics used to tailor recommendations.
- Chat messages — text you send to the smart assistant, processed in real time and not stored on our servers after the session ends.
Information collected automatically
- Anonymous identifier — a randomly generated ID via Firebase Anonymous Authentication. No email, password, or account is required.
- Device location (only with your permission) — used to show nearby places, provide directions, and deliver contextual recommendations.
- Basic device information — app version, OS version, and device type for compatibility and debugging.
Information we do NOT collect
- Real names, email addresses, or phone numbers
- Photos, contacts, or files from your device
- Payment or financial information
- Browsing history or data from other apps
How We Use Your Data
- To provide personalized city guide recommendations
- To show nearby places and events based on your location
- To deliver weather-appropriate suggestions
- To save your favorite places and events locally on your device
- To send push notifications about nearby points of interest (only if you opt in)
- To improve app performance and fix issues
Third-Party Services
The App uses the following third-party services, each governed by their own privacy policies:
- Firebase (Google) — anonymous authentication, data storage, push notifications, and cloud functions. Firebase Privacy Policy↗

Data Storage and Security
- Favorites and preferences are stored locally on your device.
- Anonymous identifiers are stored securely in Firebase Firestore, hosted in the EU (europe‑west1).
- Chat conversations are processed in real time and are not permanently stored on our servers.
- All network communication uses HTTPS encryption.
Data Retention
Since we use anonymous authentication, there is no personal account to delete. Your anonymous identifier and associated preferences may be automatically removed after prolonged inactivity. You can reset all local data by uninstalling the App.
Children's Privacy
The App is not directed at children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children. Since the App uses anonymous authentication and requires no personal information, children can use it safely under parental guidance.
Your Rights
Under GDPR and applicable laws, you have the right to:
- Deny or revoke location access at any time via device settings
- Disable push notifications at any time
- Delete all local data by uninstalling the App
- Request information about data associated with your anonymous ID
Changes to This Policy
We may update this policy from time to time. Changes will be reflected on this page with an updated date. Continued use of the App constitutes acceptance of the revised policy.
