Lake Burgas (Vaya Lake)

4.5

Burgas Lake is the kingdom of rare birds in Bulgaria. It is one of the few places where you can observe nesting colonies of black-crowned night herons, great white egrets and squacco herons. Among its other inhabitants are Dalmatian and great white pelicans, as well as the delicate white-headed duck. The lake lies in the heart of Burgas, between the Gorno and Dolno Ezerovo neighbourhoods. Burgas Lake is also known as Vaya and is the largest natural lake in the country. It is connected to the Black Sea via a canal, which is why saltwater fish also inhabit its waters.
