Armenian Orthodox Church of St. Hach

4.8

The Armenian Apostolic and Orthodox Church of Surp Hach (meaning "Holy Cross") was built in 1853 on the site of the wooden Armenian chapel of Surp Stepanos, which had existed since 1673. The building is a single-nave, single-space structure and bears the principal characteristics of Armenian ecclesiastical architecture. Over the years the church has undergone numerous alterations. Today, the building is distinguished by its substantial narthex and bell tower, while the façade is clad in stone slabs. The Church of Surp Hach is one of the oldest and most beautiful buildings in the city of Burgas and has been recognised as a cultural monument since 1970.
