From June 26 to 28, Burgas will host the fourth edition of the National Choir Festival with international participation for mixed and homogeneous choirs "Let it be Summer". The forum will bring together established choirs from Bulgaria, North Macedonia, Turkey and Ukraine in the seaside city, offering the audience three concert evenings with free admission. The event is realized with the financial support of the Culture Fund of the Municipality of Burgas.
Choral art in Bulgaria has deep traditions, the beginning of which dates back to the period of the Bulgarian Renaissance. Over the years, it has established itself as an important part of the national musical culture, and today over a hundred choral ensembles are active in the country. Burgas also has its worthy place on the choral map of Bulgaria with ensembles that have won numerous awards from national and international forums.
The "Let It Be Summer" festival kicks off in 2023 and is quickly becoming one of the most significant musical events in the city's cultural calendar. Over the years, the forum has attracted more and more participants and audiences, and its own logo and anthem have been created with music by Stefan Dimitrov, lyrics by Miryana Basheva and arrangement by Milena Dobreva. After the successful editions in 2023, 2024 and 2025, the festival is now establishing itself as a traditional annual event.
This year's edition will offer two concerts at the Summer Theater and a gala concert at the NHK Cultural Center. A special gift for all participants and fans of choral art will be the premiere of the new Bulgarian song "Ih, the Sea" by composer Valeri Kostov, which will be performed during the closing concert.
The program will include the Women's Youth Choir at the Youth Cultural Center in Skopje with conductor Sasho Tatarchevski, Ankara Polyphonic Choir with conductor Nilgun Tuzkaya from Turkey, Vocal Ensemble "Miz Ukraine" with conductor Anatoly Demyanchuk from Ukraine, Youth Choir "Svoboda" at the National Theater "Sredets 1926" - Sofia with conductor Mihaela Koteva, Mixed Choir "Prof. Veneta Vicheva" - Shumen with conductor Hristo Atanasov, Women's Choir "Trimontsium" - Plovdiv with conductor Maya Yordanova, Mixed Choir of Transport Workers - Sofia with conductor Petar Matev and Mixed Choir "Rodna pesen" at the Municipality of Burgas with conductor Milena Dobreva.
The organizers are convinced that the festival will continue to develop and popularize choral art, while providing an opportunity for creative exchange between performers from different countries. The forum is part of the Cultural Summer Program of Burgas and has its place in the city's candidacy for European Capital of Culture 2032.
