St. Ivan Rilski Church
The construction of the church began with the expansion of the city of Burgas. The main donor for the construction of the church was the Burgas benefactor Alexander Georgiev Kodzhakafaliyata, who provided his lands in the area of today's "Bratya Miladinovi" complex for the use of poor and landless residents of the city. The committee for the construction of the church received large financial contributions from the Union of Reserve Non-Commissioned Officers, as well as from other Burgas churches and pious Christians. The new church "St. Ivan Rilski" was solemnly opened on April 1, 1934. In 1951, the old wooden bell tower was replaced with a new one, which is now located to the left of the entrance to the church. Four bells of different sizes are hung in the bell tower, the largest of which weighs 100 kg, the second 60 kg, and the other two are 40 kg each. The iconostasis was made during the construction. It is 3 m high and 11.5 m long. Prof. Nikolay Kozhuharov was chosen to paint the iconostasis icons, participating with seven icons. On 1.11.1973, during the consecration of the temple, a fragment of the relics of St. Martyr Bacchus was placed in the Holy See.
