Church of the Dormition of the Theotokos (Vasiliko neighborhood)

This is the oldest and most iconic church in Tsarevo, which has become a true symbol of the town.Location: It sits isolated on the rocky Castro Peninsula in the old Vasiliko district, offering an incredible panoramic view of the sea. It was originally built around 1810–1831, but its current stone architectural appearance dates back to 1895, after surviving a major fire. It is also known as the "Pirate Church" due to specific unique symbols on the cross above the entrance. Unique baptisms are performed here, starting inside the temple and concluding directly in the waters of the Black Sea.
