Photographic exhibition "The Color of Salt"
From October 1 to 31, 2026, the photographic exhibition "The Color of Salt" by Niki Dinov will be presented in front of the "Sea Casino" CC in Burgas. The opening is on October 1 at 6:30 p.m. The exhibition includes 24 frames, printed on panels measuring 127 × 94 cm, which show the salt pans near Burgas at sunset and from a bird's eye view. Niki Dinov has been involved in photography since 1984 and is the founder of Esstetic Print, a place where photographs come to life. There, photos are taken from phones and computers and printed so that they can be hung on the wall at home or in the office. In recent years, Niki has been shooting almost exclusively commercial projects and still doesn’t find time for photography for pleasure. One day in August, he decided to go to the salt pans, just a 15-minute drive from his home. “From the first time I went, the place grabbed me and I started going there every day or two at sunset. Every time I saw something different and wanted more: colors, textures, shapes, flamingos… That’s how the idea for this exhibition was born,” the photographer says. The unusual red and pink hues of the water that dominate the footage have a natural explanation. The highly saline water is home to the microalgae Dunaliella salina, which secretes red pigments to protect itself from the strong sun. The tiny brine shrimp Artemia feed on it, and so do the flamingos, who owe their pink plumage to this food chain. "With the shots in the exhibition, I want to show you this place as I saw it, because it is much more beautiful and mysterious than we think, passing by it every day," says Niki Dinov. The exhibition is realized with the support of the Municipality of Burgas and the Rotary Club of Burgas.
