Ride Like the Champions: A Cycling Parade on the Giro d’Italia Route in Burgas
Experience the First Kilometers of the Giro d’Italia Route in Burgas On May 9, 2026 (Saturday), a city cycling parade open to all cycling enthusiasts will take place in Burgas. The start is exactly at 12:00 PM from Troika Square, where participants will ride through the first 6 kilometers of the official Giro d’Italia route in the city. The ride begins from the official Giro d’Italia start arch—the point where the 221-kilometer second stage from Burgas to Veliko Tarnovo begins. This is an opportunity for everyone to join with a bicycle, feel the atmosphere of one of the most prestigious cycling races in the world, and experience the route in Burgas just as the champions will. The event is suitable for everyone—children, families, beginners, and experienced cyclists. It is not a race, but an organized city ride created for enjoyment, movement, and shared excitement. It is organized by cyclists for cyclists—for the residents and visitors of Burgas, in partnership with the Burgas cycling community and the Municipality of Burgas. Cycling Parade Route At exactly 12:00 PM, the ride starts from Troika Square, where a designated entry zone for participants will be set up. The route passes along: Aleksandrovska Street, Ivan Vazov Street, Tsar Petar Street, Hristo Botev Street, Odrin Street, Struga Boulevard, and Stefan Stambolov Boulevard. At 12:20 PM, the group reaches the area of Arena Burgas, where it turns onto the bike lane of Stefan Stambolov Boulevard. The route then continues along the bike lanes of Stefan Stambolov Boulevard, Transportna Street, Dimitar Dimov Street, Lake Park, and the Sea Garden. The finish is planned for 1:00 PM at the terrace of the Sea Casino, where a group photo—la grande foto—will be taken. Organization and Safety The route along the city streets will be closed until 12:20 PM, so it is important that all participants arrive at the starting position on time. After the start, no additional cyclists will be allowed on the route. All participants must follow the instructions of the organizers and traffic police, stay on the designated route, and ride carefully. During the cycling event, it is important to maintain distance between bicycles, follow traffic rules and signals, and overtake only when it is safe. The organizers call on participants to be tolerant and considerate of others. Wearing a helmet is strongly recommended. If assistance is needed, participants can turn to the organizers along the route. “Ride like the champions!” is not just an event—it is a chance to feel the energy of world-class sport in your own city, to create memories, and to be part of the pink magic of Giro d’Italia. On May 9, Burgas will not just watch the Giro d’Italia—it will experience it.
