The production “Elizabeth or the Virgin Queen” does not claim historical accuracy. It does not seek to transport the audience to Renaissance England, nor to immerse them in the love story of Elizabeth I and her only beloved, Robert Dudley. Instead, it is a fictional story about the vulnerability of the powerful, the pursuit of authority, the removal of masks, and the sacrifices we make when faced with the monumental conflict between love and the crown.
