NAPOLETANO

Art Ticket, Kontraplan, and the cultural organization Art Atelier 77 present “NAPOLETANO” PREMIERE Director: Dimitar Kotsev – Shosho Playwright: Yana Borisova Set and Costume Design: Elis Veli Music: Milen Kukosharov Photographer: Miryana Slivenska Starring: Julian Vergov and Petar Antonov “Napoletano” is a dramatic comedy that follows the story of two men who, through a twist of fate, are forced to live on the streets as homeless drifters. Each has a different life story and a different reason for ending up there. Once, both had professions, good lives, and families. After meeting by chance and forming an unlikely friendship, they decide to help the one among them who still has a chance at happiness. Vishnevsky is a former professor of statistics. After his wife dies, he loses everything and uses his last savings to travel to Naples, his wife's hometown. On a freezing evening, he meets Tony, a homeless man who takes him under his wing and introduces him to the world of street life. The story begins with this first encounter. Tony adores football and speaks about it in a way that resembles poetry. He also loves Naples. Together, the two men wander through and survive in the vast city, which becomes their home—a place filled with both danger and beauty. This charming story explores the value of freedom and how meaningless it becomes when there is no one with whom to share it. Through two people who have lost absolutely everything, we come to understand that freedom, life, and love may in fact be one and the same.
