Nikola Stanchev Sports Hall was opened in 2009 as part of the active efforts by the Municipality of Burgas in recent years to improve sports facilities in the city. It is located in Burgas’s largest residential district, Meden Rudnik. The hall operates year-round and is open to children, young people, and adults of working age—both professional athletes and amateurs. The hall is named after the legendary Bulgarian wrestler Nikola Stanchev, who was born in the Burgas village of Tvarditsa and was Bulgaria’s first Olympic gold medalist. The sports complex includes: A large multifunctional hall designed for various sports, measuring 49 m long, 28 m wide, and 14 m high. A smaller hall measuring 13.6 m long, 12 m wide, and 9 m high. The main hall has a seating capacity of 150 spectators. The following sports are practiced in the large hall: Handball Basketball Volleyball Football (soccer) Badminton Tennis Table tennis
