Giro d'Lagoon
Inspired by the atmosphere of the Giro d'Italia, cycling enthusiasts will have the opportunity to join a cycling tour around Atanasovsko Lake - one of the most iconic pink lakes in Europe. The event will take place on May 6, 2026 at 10:00, with the meeting point at the parking lot at the Sabrebill Trail, in the area of the birdwatching shelter at the exit of Burgas in the direction of Sarafovo. Participants will follow a route that includes the bike path along Dimitar Dimov Street, Lake Park, the Kapanite area, the Saltworks and will reach the Tochkata area. A short break is planned there, during which experts from the Bulgarian Biodiversity Foundation will present interesting facts about the ecosystem and the unique biodiversity of the lake. For those who wish, the route can continue with a full tour of the lake. The organizers specify that the route is not suitable for city bicycles. The total length of the route is about 30 kilometers, with a difficulty level from easy to medium and without technical sections, and the use of gravel or MTB bikes is recommended. The initiative is organized by the Burgas Cycling Community and the Bulgarian Biodiversity Foundation - Strandzha branch, within the framework of the project "Burgas: Nature on Wheels", with the support of the TELUS Digital Bulgaria Foundation.
