Pomorie Beach

The central beach in Pomorie is one of the most popular and longest stretches of beach in the area. It is about 9 km long in total (from the town center to Aheloy). The first 3 km or so are supervised and well-maintained, while the remaining ~6 km are wilder and unsupervised (part of the Pomorie Lake protected area, where a sandbar separates the lake from the sea). The sand is fine-grained, often dark/black or grayish due to its high iron and manganese content (magnetite sand). This gives it a distinctive appearance and makes it warmer to the touch. In some places, it is golden. It holds a “Blue Flag” certification for cleanliness and quality of services (in the supervised section). It features paid areas with lounge chairs and umbrellas, free areas, beach bars, restaurants, showers, restrooms, and changing rooms. The beach is divided into smaller sections by stone breakwaters, creating cozy little coves. During peak season, it can get quite crowded near the town, but the farther you go (toward the lake), the quieter it becomes. It’s ideal for a family vacation, and its proximity to the therapeutic mud baths and salt flats of Pomorie makes it even more attractive.
