Aquae Calidae

Here is the professional English translation: This place, steeped in thousands of years of history, draws its visitors with a wide variety of opportunities for relaxation and entertainment. The archaeological treasures discovered on the site — the fortress walls of the ancient city of Therme (Thermopolis), the Roman baths from the 1st century AD with warm and cold pools, and various medieval chambers — are accessible to tourists via purpose-built modern walkways that facilitate movement and exploration. The complex offers the citizens and guests of Burgas the opportunity to visit the fully restored bathhouse of Suleiman the Magnificent. Its restoration has faithfully preserved the original appearance, clad in marble and ceramic tiles characteristic of the Orient. Its authenticity is further enhanced by both natural and artistic lighting. It functions as a living museum, where visitors can watch a film created using 3D mapping technology, which takes tourists on a virtual journey from the time of the Thracians and the legend of the Sacred Spring of the three healing nymphs, through the Roman era and the Crusades, up to the reign of Suleiman the Magnificent. The museum exhibition includes all artefacts discovered at Aquae Calidae — gold, silver and bronze coins from various eras, a gold earring, bathing implements, seals, ceramics, marble decorative details and inscriptions, as well as ritual objects. The complex also features a multi-purpose building housing a café and souvenir shop. The entire surrounding area has been landscaped and transformed into a pleasant place for leisure, with abundant greenery, park furniture and fountains. The open space in front of the bathhouse has been designed as a functioning amphitheatre, bringing together lovers of fine music, cinema and theatre at this mystical location. The Aquae Calidae Demonstration Aqua Centre was created under the project "The Mineral Waters of Aquae Calidae," part of a larger project by the Municipality of Burgas entitled "The Power of Water," funded under the EU Operational Programme "Regions in Growth" 2014–2020. The new aqua centre was opened on 10 October 2022 and operates as part of the Aquae Calidae Tourist Complex, located in the Mineralni Bani area, Vetren quarter, city of Burgas. Situated just 20 metres from the spring, the aqua centre is the closest mineral water facility in the area. The building in which it is housed combines modern construction with interestingly displayed archaeological structures.
