Museum “St. Nicholas” – Chernomorets
Visitors can explore the rich history and archaeology of the town of Chernomorets and its surrounding area at the St. Nikola Museum Exhibition in Chernomorets. The museum was established in 2014 with the aim of presenting, preserving and promoting the rich and ancient history and culture of the town. It is housed in a standalone two-storey building and consists of two exhibition halls covering archaeology and ethnography. On the ground floor, the archaeological exhibition "Chernomorets — The Millennial Beginning" presents ceramic vessels, ritual figurines, ancient metallurgical installations, stone and bone tools, and fishing implements discovered at a prehistoric settlement in the Akladi locality (6th–3rd millennium BC), bearing witness to the life, livelihoods and beliefs of the earliest settlements on the town's territory. The upper floor houses the ethnographic exhibition "Life and Culture of the Coastal Strandzha Population," displaying women's jewellery, textiles, and traditional male, female and children's clothing belonging to representatives of the three principal ethnic groups — Rupci, Tronki and Zagorci — that form the colourful ethnographic character of the region. The tools of labour and craft instruments on display offer an insight into the population's primary livelihoods — farming, animal husbandry and fishing — as well as the traditional local crafts. Richly illustrated photographs and panels provide a visual impression of the architectural appearance of the village of Sveti Nikola (present-day Chernomorets), the way of life, traditions and customs that form part of the spiritual culture of the local population. Summer opening hours: 10:00–12:30 and 14:00–18:00, closed Mondays.
