The tour of the virtuoso Indian musician Pandit Vikash Maharaj and the world-famous trio " Maharaj " begins in Bulgaria on June 21 . After their extremely successful visit to our country in September 2025, when they gave concerts in Sofia, Plovdiv and other cities, the musicians are returning again at the invitation of the East-West Indological Foundation, with the assistance of the Embassy of the Republic of India in Bulgaria and the Indian Council for Cultural Relations (ICCR). This year the tour passes through Sofia, Plovdiv and Stara Zagora, culminating in Burgas. Burgas - final events of the tour June 27, 11:30 a.m. – Presentation of the Indian raga tradition and musical instruments , Sea Casino Cultural Institute June 28, 7:00 PM – Concert of the “ Maharaj ” Trio , “Snail” Open Stage The event on June 27 will give the audience the opportunity to learn about the basics of Indian classical music - raga and the characteristic instruments sarod, sitar and tabla, presented by the musicians of the " Maharaj " trio . The trio hails from the holy city of Varanasi, one of the oldest spiritual and musical centers of India. It consists of Pandit Vikash Maharaj, a virtuoso on the sarod, and his sons Prabhash Maharaj (tabla) and Abhishek Maharaj (sitar), who carry on a tradition that has been preserved and developed for more than five centuries. With their stage presence and mastery, they are among the established representatives of Indian classical music on the world stage. Pandit Vikash Maharaj has performed over 7,000 concerts worldwide, performing on prestigious stages such as the Berlin Philharmonic, Cologne Cathedral and numerous international festivals. He has shared the stage with names such as Ravi Shankar, John McLaughlin, Peter Gabriel and Herbie Hancock. All events from the tour in Bulgaria are free to enter. Burgas will be the final stop of the tour and an encounter with the living tradition of Indian raga music.
