French Cinema at the Library: Screening of On ira (2025)
Our library invites you to a screening of the French film On ira (2025), a delicate, emotional, and gently unconventional comedy-drama. On ira tells the story of Marie, an 80-year-old woman who is seriously ill and decides to travel to Switzerland to end her life. When she tries to share her decision with her son, Bruno, and her granddaughter, Anna, she loses her nerve and invents a story about a mysterious inheritance that must be collected from a Swiss bank. Thus begins an unexpected journey in a camper van, joined by Rudy, a caregiver whom Marie met only recently. On ira is a film about family bonds, the passing of values between generations, and the right to make one's own choices. Blending humor with sensitivity, it strikes a balance between emotion and irony, creating an intimate yet universal story. The screening is presented in partnership with the French Institute. Free admission! We look forward to welcoming you for an unforgettable evening of cinema at the Library!
