5 Reasons to Participate in the 2026 Burgas Marathon

On November 15, 2026, Burgas will once again welcome runners from Bulgaria and abroad for the Burgas Marathon—one of the biggest sporting events on the Bulgarian Black Sea coast.

Whether you’re training for your first 5 kilometers, dreaming of a half-marathon, or chasing a new personal best in the classic marathon distance, Burgas offers conditions that make the race a special experience.

1. A Course Along the Sea

Few races in Bulgaria can offer views of the sea while you run. The Burgas Marathon course passes through some of the city’s most beautiful areas and combines a seaside atmosphere, open spaces, and comfortable racing conditions.

2. A Distance for Everyone

One of the major advantages of the Burgas Marathon is the variety of distances.

Participants can choose between:

42.195 km ASICS Marathon – 4 laps on a certified course

21.097 km Half Marathon – 2 laps on a certified course

10.5 km Sport Toto – 1 lap on a certified course

5 km FIB Mass Run – 1 lap on a separate course

1 km Decathlon Fun Run – a 1 km fun run for kids and families

This allows entire families, groups of friends, and corporate teams to take part in the event regardless of their fitness level.

3. Professional Organization and Safety

Refreshment stations offering water and beverages, volunteers, medical teams, and music zones will be located along the entire route.

The organizers—the Municipality of Burgas and the “Sports in Leisure Time” Association—are working to create a safe and enjoyable environment for all participants.

Every registered runner receives a goody bag with gifts from partners and sponsors, an original ASICS T-shirt, an official race number, and professional timing.

4. A Medal You’ll Want to Keep

For many runners, the medal is more than just a prize—it’s a symbol of the effort put in and the goal achieved.

Every participant who successfully finishes will receive a specially crafted finisher’s medal, designed exclusively for the 2026 edition.

It will serve as a memento of the day you were part of one of the largest running events in Bulgaria.

5. More Than Just a Race

The Burgas Marathon is not just a sporting competition. It is a celebration of an active lifestyle, a gathering of people with shared interests, and an opportunity to experience the energy of one of Bulgaria’s most beautiful cities.

Spectators, volunteers, and participants create an atmosphere that transforms the event into a true festival of running.

Registration is open

Early registration offers the lowest prices through June 30, 2026.
